It will make all the difference in the world if your movers know the traffic patterns, which parking permits to get, and etc. After all, they’re dealing with this everyday.

Every move is different in terms of priorities. Have you listed yours? Some movers offer just the bare bones, while others may have a specific specialty, like cross-country moves. It’s important that you find a moving company prepared to provide you with the specialized services you need.

Do not even consider a moving company that isn’t up-to-date on the required certifications, licenses, and insurance. It’s essential to ensure the safety and security of your belongings, their movers and anyone else involved. Bottom line, be sure that any moving company you may be considering abides by the law.

You should be able to find proof on their company website, but you can also point blank ask then. The law requires them to show their customers proof. If they make excuses or hesitate in any way when asked to show their current license, certification and insurance, just move on.

When you first contacted these moving companies, whether you did it in person, online or over the phone, how were you received? Did they take their time getting back to you? Did they seem excited that you contacted them? How responsive were they to your questions?

Many years in business does not necessarily mean top-quality service, but in the moving industry experience can make a huge difference. A well-established company that’s been in business for many years indicates a good track record. To remain in business for years they must have earned a fairly solid reputation, demonstrating that they can be counted on to do a fairly good job.
